Richie Adams Toastmaster

Richie, the Gavel Guy, has been speaking at dinners for over 30 years. His wit and charm have been appreciated by audiences as far afield as Australia, the United States and, of course Scotland. As all good Toastmasters should, Richie will attend your event dressed in red evening tailcoat, white bow tie and gloves. Richie likes to wear tartan trews to give a Scottish feel to his presentation, although if you’d prefer him in traditional black trousers, you need only ask and he’ll dress to your preference. As a Toastmaster, Richie is ideally suited to make sure your Big Day goes fantastically well.

The Gavel Guy can help your wedding run like a dream

Meeting your guests

Richie will get to your reception venue an hour or so before you are due to arrive.  He will meet with the catering manager and service team to ensure everything is just as you want it to be.

As your guest arrive Richie will greet them and show them into the reception area where he will introduce himself to your friends and family and make sure they are all comfortable.

Welcoming you

Upon your arrival at the venue Richie will welcome you before taking you to the reception room that has been arranged for you. He will make sure you have everything you need and help arrange any photographs you have planned.  If you are having photographs taken at the venue, Richie will liaise with your photographer and discreetly arrange for individuals and groups to make their way to where the photographer is situated.

Should you be plan to have a reception line, Richie will help position you and your principal guests in the order you prefer.   As your friends and family come forward Richie will call their names so everyone in the receiving line knows who they are meeting – this is particularly handy for first time introductions.

The Speeches

The speeches are always a highlight for guests but can be a bit nerve wracking for those proposing toasts.  If your speakers wish, Richie will meet with them in the run up to the Big Day and assist them with the planning of their toast as well as giving a few hints and tips to for making a great speech.

When the time for toasts comes, Richie will introduce each speaker along the toast they are being asked to give.

Cutting the cake and some dancing

Cutting the cake is always a fun part of any wedding, and Richie will help to make that a memorable experience for you and your guests.  He will liaise with the catering manager to ensure this is done at a time that ensures you and your guests will be able to enjoy the cake during the evening.

Once the feasting is over it’s time for dancing.  Richie will be on hand to introduce you to your friends and family once again, this is particularly nice if you have additional guests coming in the evening.

Richie will then introduce the first dance.  He will invite the Bride and Groom to take the floor and thereafter the Best Man and Principal Bridesmaid, the parents of the Bride and Groom and, finally, the remaining guests, to join in the dance.

Throwing a party and throwing bouquets

If you are planning to throw your bouquet, Richie can make this a fun experience for all the guests.  He can help you choose the right piece of music, and he will pass around the wedding to ensure all those who would like the chance to catch the bouquet know when and where the throw will be happening.

Sometimes the Bride and Groom like some entertainment during the meal.  Richie will meet with your entertainer to manage timings and ensure everyone enjoys the activity.  If you are planning a quiz during the meal, Richie is a fantastic compare and quiz master and can deliver that for you and your guests.

Something different?

Not everyone wants to either marry or have their reception in hotel or even a venue with walls. Wherever you plan to marry or have your reception, the Gavel Guy will help make it a day to remember.  Whatever your plans are, why not give Richie a call, there has never been a venue where he’s not been able to make your Big Day happen in style.

If you have something special in mind or are planning a surprise, why not ask Richie how he can make it happen for you.  He is always keen to help.
